Zanu-PF candidate for Mt Darwin West Cde Barnwell Seremwe denies any links with former Vice President Joice Mujuru as reported by some sections of the media yesterday.

Cde Seremwe said he could have challenged Cde Mujuru in the run-up to the 2013 elections, but stopped out of respect of her position then.

He castigated her for failing to initiate meaningful development in the constituency during her tenure.

“The reports in some newspapers today (yesterday) are all lies. There is no way I am associated with Mai Mujuru. Even in 2013 during the primary elections I wanted to challenge (her), but only stopped as a way of respecting her seniority and what the party had said.

“She, however, failed to do anything that benefits the constituency despite her seniority and the influence. That is why I wanted to challenge (her).

“Most roads in the constituency are in a bad state and there is no indication that this was a constituency of a Vice President,” Cde Seremwe said.

He said if elected on March 27, he would work for the development of the constituency and fulfil the aspirations of its people.

Chirumanzu-Zibagwe candidate Cde Auxilia Mnangagwa also castigated Cde Mujuru saying she had failed the people of Mt Darwin West.

“What has come out in the newspapers is shocking because she never did anything for the constituency despite all her influence and wealth,” Cde Mnangagwa said.

Cde Mnangagwa expressed confidence that Zanu-PF would retain the Chirumanzu-Zibagwe seat and pledged to do her utmost to develop the constituency.

“I promise that I will represent the people of the constituency well and I am certain that I will win so that I do not embarrass the party and President Mugabe,” she said.

Political Commissar Cde Saviour Kasukuwere, expressed satisfaction with the manner in which the two prospective candidates were nominated adding they now awaited final endorsement when the Politburo meets today.
