Shooting is underway for a movie dubbed “Escape” that features Afro-jazz and award winning songstress Selmor Mthukudzi.

The movie is directed by well known filmmakers, Joe Njagu and Dr Agnieszka Piotrowska and produced by Thinking Films Company.

“Escape” is a Caucasian young man who comes to Harare in search of his father but in the process ends up finding love in Anna (played by Selmor).

Anna is a single modern woman who is clever and strong. She is also a “journalist”.

One of the directors Dr Agnieszka Piotrowska says Selmor adds vibe and value to the story.

“Selmor brings this kind of unexplainable vibe and incredible quality to the story and the movie in general, a good actor in deed”, she said.

On the other hand, Selmor said she is excited to be involved in such an amazing production though challenging but fun.

“I am excited and grateful to be involved in such an amazing production as I am also discovering my strengths in acting, thanks to Thinking Films Company,” she said.

“There is a lot of work and dedication required. It was fun trying to learn my lines and remembering how to react to the other actors, the experience is fun.”

Selmor, however, added that she started acting when she was young .

“I started acting when I was about 10 years old; I featured in one of the local dramas and then in ‘I am the Future’.

“My role in this movie is sharpening my skills in a big way and am happy with the experience.”
