As the nation celebrates 35 years of Independence, Zimbabweans in the Diaspora are not to be left out as they also will be commemorating the important day.

Zimbabweans in South Africa have organised an Independence gig that will see Seh Calaz, sharing stage with Buffallo Souljah, Nox and Cabo Snoop from Uganda among others at Cape Town City Hall.

In an interview with The Herald Entertainment, events coordinator Taona Kandemiri said all is set for the Independence gig as all the artists who are billed to perform have confirmed their participation.

“All is set for the Independence day celebrations to be held in Cape Town. Zimbabwean artistes based in South Africa and Seh Calaz have all confirmed and we are just waiting for the big day,” he said.

He said the country’s independence means a lot to every Zimbabwean regardless of where they are based.

“Music played a pivotal role during the liberation struggle and we need to celebrate independence through music.

“Music brings people together. Celebrating Zimbabwean Independence means a lot to us.

“We will also be remembering Bob Marley who played a pivotal role during the liberation struggle through his music and performed at our Independence celebrations,” he said.

On the other hand Seh Calaz through his manager Godfrey “Vokal” Bakasa confirmed their participation in the Uhuru celebrations and encouraged people in Cape Town to come in their numbers.

“It is true that we will be performing at the Zimbabwe Independence gala in Cape Town, South Africa and we are encouraging all Zimbabweans in Cape Town to come in their numbers to celebrate the independence of our country together.

“We are also going to take the platform to market our debut album ‘Mubhanditi Rebirth’ so our fans are going to have an opportunity to witness the successfully launched album being performed to them for the first time,” he said.
