AFTER years of service to various clubs and country, former Sables captain Costa Dinha will this morning be giving tips to young players when he joins former players in conducting a coaching clinic at Victoria Falls Primary School.

The coaching clinic is part of a rugby extravaganza set for the resort town which will culminate in a game between former Zimbabwe and South African players.

Dinha a versatile player who at the peak of his powers could either play as lock or eighth-man was also an accomplished basketball player.

The former Zimbabwe captain said he felt honoured by being included in the team that will player against South Africa in Victoria Falls.

“I am honoured to be named a legend and playing South Africa will be good and give them a run for their money.

“I love my rugby, be it playing or watching I enjoy the challenge that comes with being a winner though I hate losing with a passion

“I have assisted Prince Edward in the background for the last three years and Old Hararians so it will be good to also educate the young players in Victoria Falls.

“And also the kids benefit the most as some of them due to their location would have never seen an international rugby game or meet the players,

“I am a person who loves a lot of sports and I would like to see some of the top players from our country coming from Victoria Falls therefore the coaching clinic and the hosting of the event . . ., ”said Dinha.

Apart from Dinha, such former players like Tapiwa Mangezi, Sean Robertson and David Walters will be in Victoria Falls and also conducting the coaching clinic.

Saturday’s match is part of the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority’s sport tourism concept and aimed at giving a positive perception about the country as an ideal destination

The event co-ordinator Robin Brown of Cansaf told The Herald recently, that the ex-Sables and Springboks players will be conducting the coaching clinic and playing the match.

“I am happy that we are going to host the former Sables and Springboks players at the Victoria Falls Primary the green is lovely and we believe everyone will enjoy the match.

“These players are legends in both countries and that brings us into partnership between sport and tourism,” said Brown.
