ZIFA Eastern Region Division One side Mutare City Rovers remained on top of the log after an emphatic 3-0 win over Renco Mine at Sakubva at the weekend.Mutare City Council is closing in on the Premiership ticket with nine games remaining before the curtain comes down.

Mutare City got their goals from skipper Hebron Makukutu, Tapfumanei Gwereweshe and Blessing Mwamuka.

With nine matches before the end of the race, Mutare are at the summit of the standings with 48 points.

Mutare-based army side Buffalo Junior are in second place, two points behind.

Eastern Stars were held to a 3-3 draw by Tenax.
