LIVERPOOL – Wayne Rooney has poached a bodyguard from Manchester United to drive him to training during his two-year driving ban.

Damien Hall, known as “Big Ginge”, will chauffeur the striker on the 80-mile round trip from his home in Prestbury, Cheshire, to Everton’s Finch Farm facility on the outskirts of Liverpool.

Hall, who is trusted by both ex-England captain Rooney (31) and his wife Coleen, has been tasked with making sure he arrives safely and on time.

He was employed by Controlled Solutions Group, who manage all Manchester United’s security issues.

But it is understood he has been given permission to work exclusively for Rooney, who he has known for years through his work at Old Trafford.

A source said: “Damien is well known to both Wayne and Coleen.

“He is also well known to all the players at United and will be a regular face at Finch Farm now.”

Damien escorted Wayne into court on Monday when the striker admitted drink driving in the VW convertible of party girl Laura Simpson (29). He was handed a 100-hour community service order as well as the driving ban. – The Mirror.
