An armed robber who was part of a gang that attacked motorists with stones and a knife along Seke Road was sentenced to four years in prison. Tafadzwa Mutamiri, of Chitungwiza, whose age was not given, committed the offences with two accomplices.

After his arrest, Mutamiri implicated Rickson Chananga and Eliot Dumingo who were acquitted at the close of the State case. This was after prosecutor Mr Norman Koropi failed to prove a case against them.

Mutamiri denied three counts of robbery and malicious damage to property charges when he appeared before Chitungwiza magistrate, Mr Lazarus Murendo. He was convicted after overwhelming evidence was produced in court.

Mr Murendo sentenced him to six years in prison and conditionally set aside a year for five years.
