A 31-year-old Imire Game Park herd boy was reportedly killed by a rhino he was herding last week in Hwedza. According to close sources, Tafadzwa Gosho was herding a rhino in the company of his workmate identified as Gamizani Musiwa (44).

It is alleged that on August 31 at around 3pm Gosho and Musiwa released one rhino from the pen and started herding it in the game park. At around 5pm it is reported that Gosho left Musiwa with the rhino as he went for a tea break.

Gosho returned later and released Musiwa for a tea break and game drive tour. The rhino was later spotted grazing alone by a fellow herd boy identified as Tafadzwa Mutimugakwa (26) who alerted the game authorities through radio communication.

According to the sources, a search was immediately conducted for Gosho since his mobile phone and radio went unanswered. Gosho, it is reported was later found dead in the game park and a report was made at Hwedza Police Station whose officers attended the scene.

It is reported that Gosho’s body had multiple injuries and signs of rhino attack. His body was taken to Hwedza Hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem.
