Revellers having fun in a club over the weekend

The winter season might be in full swing but that has not deterred night owls patrolling nightspots during the cold nights in the capital in search of fun.

Scenes at places like Pariah State, Maestro, Alliance Francaise and 1+1 Club in the capital over the weekend are evidence enough that indoor joints are now a hit.

In fact, most club owners, with the exception of a few, are capitalising on the demand for indoor fun and going out of their way to make the clubbing experience as warm and comfortable as possible.

The momentum has given top club deejays and little known artistes a chance to shine for the audience that usually throng open-air venues which feature live performances from established artistes.

Such was the case with emerging saxophonist Vimbai “Vee” Mukarati at Pariah State recently.

“I have my own band but I also collaborate with deejays in clubs. I play along to the songs that the deejay plays on the decks. The collaboration creates a unique sound and is different,” he said during the show.

Their show gave an intimate and classy feel to patrons who eventually warmed up on the dance floor until after midnight. Alliance Francaise at the other side of town hosted French pop and jazz musician Patrick Lupi.

The musician, who is not a newbie on the local entertainment scene, collaborated with locals Soul Bone and Steve Chikoti in the acoustic con- cert.

The show was more like a food and music celebration as it coincided with the reopening of Alliance Française restaurant that served French cuisine.

The tempo was equally high at 1+1 Club located at Long Cheng Plaza in Belvedere and credit goes to talented deejay Selekta Base.

Celebrities like Trevor Dongo were among the patrons that were out and about at the club that opened a few months ago.

As has become the norm, 1+1 Club was packed to the rafters with a mixed crowd partying up a storm until 3am on Sunday morning.
