Young dancers showcased their “Muchongoyo” moves at Chiunye Secondary School in Mt Darwin where beverages company, Coca-Cola Zimbabwe donated books worth $2 000. The young dancers were exceptional entertainers that brought colour to the event and exhibited great talent. Speaking at the event, Coca Cola Zimbabwe market activation manager Vee Chibanda said the company was doing its best in giving back to the community.

“We recognise that education is key and we feel obliged to give back to our community. We want to complement the ministry and teachers’ efforts by providing books so that their job becomes easier. It is now 69 years of Coca-Cola operating in Zimbabwe and instead of just providing refreshments, we also want to support and upgrade our community,” she said In attendance was Mashonaland East provincial education director Lloyd Mudiwa who urged other companies to follow the footsteps of Coca-Cola

“As education ministry, we cannot do it all by ourselves so we appreciate partners like Coca-Cola who come through and help us. If only other companies could emulate this gesture, our country would improve in education. The biggest investment to young people is education because no-one can take it away from them. On behalf of the Ministry, I applaud Coca Cola for the job well done,” said Mudiwa. Members of Chiunye Secondary School were overwhelmed with joy over and thanked Coca Cola for offering a helping hand.

“We feel blessed to have people like this in our country. We feel honoured for being the chosen ones. There are many schools in the country but Coca Cola chose us. We are grateful and we will take good use of these books,” said a spokesperson of the school. The school also pleaded with the company to offer them a Science kits to which Coca-Cola promised to deliver before end of this year.
