AFTER seven games in charge of DStv Rangers, Ikabort Masocha believes inconsistency has been their Achilles Heel which has seen them spend most of the first-half of the season in the bottom half of the World Navi Northern Region Division One soccer championship race. Masocha took over as the Rangers head coach in the second week of June from Elvis “Chuchu” Chiweshe after the team started off their campaign on a wrong foot, managing a single win out of nine matches.

And the executive felt there was need to change the technical team and sacked both Chiweshe and his assistant Shame Nemasango, saying the results did not match their expectations considering they were one of the pre-season favourites.

Masocha was tasked with ensuring that the team finishes their campaign on a respectable position and he said although they have been winning some matches, with their latest victory coming against Starbill last weekend, they lack consistence.

“It’s actually encouraging to win games, it gives you more energy to actually work harder looking at the fact that we are not consistent,” said Masocha.

“That’s our problem, when we play at home we get points but when we are away we don’t.
“So that is what we want to work on, why we don’t get points when we are away. That’s the area we are left to correct.”

Masocha has so far won three of the seven matches that he has been in charge. They beat Seven Flames, Bindura United and Starbill.
Masocha said he was happy with the team’s show on Saturday against his former employers, Starbill.

“In terms of pressure surrounding the game, the boys responded positively,” said Masocha.
“We are normally slow starters when you compare the first half and the second period, but in this case we talked to them (players) to start on a high.

“It made it possible for us to control the game from the start.”
Masocha said they were hoping to make more additions to their current squad.

Meanwhile, Starbill team manager Kudakwashe Mugari said they have recalled Takunda Murove, Arab Phiri and Alista Goredema, who were on loan at Commando Bullets.

The club parted ways with midfielder Ashley Rambanepasi, goalkeeper Bright Sigauke and Takesure Chiragwi.
Chiragwi has moved to Flame Lilly.
