LONDON. – Sergio Ramos has reportedly told Real Madrid he wants to leave for Manchester United. And Manchester United have made a bid of £28,6 million for Ramos.

United are closing in on a £25 million deal for Southampton’s Morgan Schneiderlin and want Ramos next.

The Spaniard is unsettled at the Bernabeu and has fallen out with the club’s hierarchy.

And according to reports, Ramos has now informed Real of his wish to quit the club and complete a summer switch to United.

United are believed to have bid around £28,5 million for the 29-year-old, a figure he feels should be acceptable to Real.

The La Liga giants’ next move is likely to demand goalkeeper David De Gea as part of negotiations.

Elsewhere, United have tied down defender Phil Jones on a four-year deal with the option of a further year.

But Manchester United have not made a “serious bid” for Southampton’s star midfielder Schneiderlin, according to the club’s manager Ronald Koeman.

The Southampton first team returned to training on Monday with new arrivals goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg and forward Juanmi joining the squad at Staplewood.

The Saints manager also revealed the he is working on a deal to keep Atletico Madrid’s on-loan defender Toby Alderweireld at the club.

Koeman told the club’s website that there have been no bids for in-demand France midfielder Schneiderlin.

“We will have to wait [to see] what will happen. Until now, we have not a serious bid for him from Man United.”said Koeman.

“We will wait, but OK – that’s business that normally starts from now. It’s no problem – it’s the first day.

“We have the experience from last season – it will be not the same this season, but we are prepared for everything. I am looking forward for another good season.”

In fact, Manchester United have not returned to Southampton with a second bid for Schneiderlin, 10 days after their initial approach, according to Sky sources.

Betting was suspended on Monday afternoon on the France international moving to Old Trafford with several reports suggesting a deal was very close to being agreed. — The Daily Express/Sky Sports.
