Conrad Mupesa in KARIBA
Heavy rains that pounded Kariba from Friday right into Sunday washed away the Kariba Business Expo. The 7th Edition of the Kariba Expo, which was expected to attract local and national exhibitors, became a damp squib after it rained non-stop, especially on Friday and Saturday, forcing many to stay indoors. The three-day expo, which was supposed to end on a high note on the 28th, suffered a big blow as exhibitors failed to display, while would-be attendees could not manage to get to the venue due to continuous rains that were experienced in Kariba on Saturday.

Kariba Business Expo organiser Miss Nkosinomusa Ngwenya said Saturday was expected to attract a massive turnout. “We hoped to attend to more people on the last day since it was on a Saturday, traffic in the first two days was low as they were working days,” she said. Miss Ngwenya said most exhibitors who were lined up to showcase on Saturday failed to do so due to the rains.

“Exhibitions by The Saizi Law Firm and other exhibitors could not go as scheduled due to the rains,” she said. Exhibitions in the first two days were described as great steps towards a big day scheduled for Saturday, as big corporates like Doves, AgriSeeds, AMC Motors and Breeze Dental Health Care showcased well. Free services were offered by AMC and Breeze Dental, whilst plenty of competitions at various stands saw attendees going back home with prizes.
