This week will probably go down in the history books as the week when Queen Bey (not my queen though), Mrs Carter or simply Beyoncé was exposed for hiding behind photo shop and making us all believe that she was flawless and perfect all these years! So a fan website leaked unedited pictures of the queen of R&B and what we saw was a contrast to the idolised Bey.

Shocking but true and who knew? She is human after all and like all of us, she has flaws. In this case it is uneven skin and blemishes.

Die-hard fans are still in denial citing that the photos are not real and others have been making noise on social media over the matter.

For us it is a lesson to embrace ourselves – flaws and all – those are the words of Beyoncé on the song “Flaws and All”.

Back to business, we posted on our Facebook page that the era of hiding your flaws is so gone.

This is not limited to celebrities but also, social media is exposing a breed of people who edit the lighting, colour and air brushing of themselves just to make them what they are not. #shame

Enough of the heavy makeup and good bye to mobile phone photo editing applications because no one is perfect! #true story

Since we are all feeling patriotic this weekend, if you bump into us in town chances are we will be wearing the Zimbabwean flag.

You know why, because we are Zimbo and proud.

On that note, enjoy the 21st February Movement our imperfect friends

Buzz Note

We are in the 21st century and technology has continued to improve for the better and best. We welcome Snapchat. There’s no doubt you’ve heard of the messaging app craze everyone’s talking about. Social media app Snapchat is built around telling your story with pictures.

Snapchat is also a handy tool to have if you want to send pictures to your friends and family without taking up more memory on your phone. Oddly enough, it’s surprisingly fun. Seriously.

When we set out to write this short primer, we were pretty sceptical. When you’ve seen one video text, you’ve seen them all, right? Nope. So, if you’d rather say everything with pictures, captions, short videos and more, check out our primer and get started today. In short Snapchat is a text, photo and video-messaging app that you use to send messages that will disappear one to 10 seconds after your friend receives them. You determine how long the recipient(s) can view the message.

When you open the app for the first time, you will be prompted to create a user name and password, as well as enter your email and birth-date (the minimum age requirement is 13 years—check out our Snapchat tips for parents).

After doing so, you’ll enter your phone number to receive a confirmation code.

Snapchat will then access the contacts in your phone to show you which of your friends already use the app so that you can easily start sending messages by adding them to your Snapchat friends list.

Let’s do this snapchatting — too bad— whatsapp phasing out soon.

Till next week, we out!
