A Midlands State University student and four other Form 4 pupils were nabbed for possessing and selling this year’s Ordinary Level Geography examination paper for US$40 per copy.
Brian Mudzengerere (18) of 2787 Domboramwari in Epworth, Denford Makawa (19) of 43 Agness Wilson Road in Hatfield, Musa Leon Mutukwa (18) of 45 Tobacco Research Board in Hatfield, Gift Jefrey Chigawu (18) of 44 Tobacco Research Board in Hatfield and Ngonidzashe Makawa (25) of 28 Nirvana Road in Hatfield appeared before Harare magistrate Mr Donald Ndirowei.

The five are facing charges of contravening section 35 (a) of the Zimbabwe School Council Act 1994.
They were remanded to December 2 on US$50 bail each.  As part of their bail conditions, Mr Ndirowei ordered the group to reside at their given addresses and not to interfere with State witnesses.

Appearing for the State, Ms Sharon Mashavira alleges that on November 14 Mudzengerere was seen by other students at Churchill Boys High School going through a paper which contained questions similar to the set exam.

This allegedly happened after sitting for an O Level Geography examination paper.
The students made a report about the incident to the school headmaster Mr Patson Mugwanda who immediately retrieved the examination paper from Mudzengerere.

Mudzengerere led to the recovery of another examination paper from Makawa who is a Form 4 pupil at Herentals College, Robert Mugabe Avenue in Harare.

The court heard that the headmaster handed Mudzengerere and Makawa to the police.  The pair implicated Mutukwa, Chigawu and Makawa leading to their arrest.

It is the State case that police investigations revealed that Mutukwa, a Form 4 student at Bilaal Academy in Epworth with the assistance of his classmate Chigawu and Makawa who is a student at Midlands State University distributed the question papers for a fee of US$40 per copy.
