Prominent businessman commits suicide

Gilmour (76), the owner of Carswell Meats Group and other abattoirs and businesses, was found dead by one of his employees at his Carswell Farm.
Chief police spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Wayne Bvudzijena yesterday said, “It is a suspected suicide but we are still investigating the case.”

On Sunday at around 2pm, it is believed Gilmour left home with a pistol that had two rounds of ammunition.
He drove into a nearby bush and shot himself once in the chest.

Gilmour died on the spot.
The employee who stumbled upon the body made a police report.

In a Press statement yesterday, Carswell Meats Group officials described Gilmour as a principled and great man who was a visionary.
