HUNDREDS of zanu-pf supporters, ordinary Bulawayo citizens and members of the apostolic sect yesterday thronged the Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo Airport to welcome President Mugabe who officially opened the 55th Zimbabwe International Trade Fair.

The President arrived at the Airport at about 10.30am and received a resounding welcome from the crowd singing revolutionary and traditional songs and chanted slogans in appreciation of the President.

Flags were flaunted in the air, while youths and members of the women’s league ululated as President Mugabe arrived.

He was accompanied by the First Lady Amai Grace Mugabe, Mechanisation and Irrigation Development Minister Dr Joseph Made and the Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs Christopher Mushohwe.

He was welcomed by the Senior Minister of State in the Office of the President Ambassador Simon Khaya Moyo, the Minister of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services Professor Jonathan Moyo, the Minister of Small to Medium Scale Enterprises and Co-oporate Development Cde Sithembiso Nyoni, the Minister of Sport, Art and Culture Cde Andrew Langa, the Minister of State for Bulawayo Provincial Affairs Cde Nomthandazo Moyo, the permanent secretary in the ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development Munesu Munodawafa, service chiefs and senior Zanu-pf officials.

President Mugabe talked to Government officials before proceeding to the ZITF where he was joined by Cde Khaya Moyo and the Minister of Industry and Commerce Cde Mike Bimha to tour some stands.
