Telecommunication organisations especially the cellphone service providers have of late been trying to outdo each other as a way of attracting business while neglecting the key fundamentals of achieving that goal. As advised previously it’s that will bring in or attract new clientele but the fundamental issue that will achieve growth in clientele is offering quality service.

No matter how juicy the promotion may look, the best person to talk about your brand is not your marketing team but the customers themselves; this is the only sure strategy to get the largest market share.

Powertel, Zimbabwe’s leading converged telecommunications have mastered this basic principle and they are on their way to the top again by simply focusing on the product perfection not branding.

Powertel consolidated their position by introducing value for money services within the telecommunications sector as they remain the most affordable data service providers at 2 cents per megabyte.

The recently improved high speed broadband packages have seen an exciting experience in their mobile internet services.
For a long time Powertel had their customers on an unlimited service package paying a fixed fee of $35 per month.

The recent network optimisation, state of the art billing system, customer profiling and the desire to see unmatched customer satisfaction has seen the internet access giant introducing the usage based service for their mobile broadband.

More interesting is the fact that the services still remains the most affordable at 2 cents compared to any other telecommunications in Zimbabwe where they are charging between 6cents to 10cents per megabyte.

The structure of the service will see customers enjoying huge discounts with the more data they purchase.
Our visit to Powertel offices and outlets saw the team interviewing the customers with regards to the new service.

There was positive response as most customers seemed excited with service improvement and moreso the affordability of the service compared to all other operators.
Thomas Mutsamwiwa a customer has this to say; “I was enjoying huge downloads with Powertel, enjoying many video’s and I thought the introduction of new packages will bring this to an end.

“Surprisingly, I am enjoying even better speeds and I have learnt that they still remain the most affordable in the market.”
When contacted for comment PowerTel commercial director Mr Willard Nyagwande highlighted the company’s desire to retain customers through affordable services and quality of service.

“Our main business thrust is to be with our customers to the future and this is achieved through uncompromised services and innovation.
“As you can see, there has never been a network that discounts you for purchasing more data but look Powertel is doing it,” said Mr Nyagwande.
Powertel is a wholly owned subsidiary of ZESA Holdings licensed with Class A Internet Access Provider.

It has made huge investments in fibre network and the widest coverage mobile broadband.
