CAPS United will have to do without one of their key players Ronald Pfumbidzai for the next two weeks as the Young Warriors defender left the country yesterday for a trial stint with Danish top-flight outfit Hobro IK.Pfumbidzai left the country yesterday morning and is expected to start training with the team today.

The Green Machine left-back was invited for trials two months ago but the visit was deferred due to delays in obtaining visa.

During the assessment period, Pfumbidzai will join fellow Zimbabwe international Quincy Antipas who is on the team’s books.

Club chief executive, Joe Makuvire, yesterday said they were hoping that he makes the grade and advance his career in a more competitive set-up.

“It’s good for him as a player. Remember he had trials with Kaizer Chiefs early in the year? The idea is for him to get what is in the best interest of his career as a professional player.

“As a club we don’t stand in a player’s way. He has our blessings and we wish him well. We approved the transaction some two months ago.

“In fact he is not the only player that has attracted interest.

“We are humbled as a club that our talents are being noticed outside our borders despite the negatives that our brand has sometimes suffered.

“We have told the players to concentrate on playing football and good things will come knocking on the doors,” said Makuvire.

If Pfumbidzai is successful, he will join Antipas as the two Zimbabweans at the club.

Former CAPS United striker, Nyasha Mushekwi and Silas Songani, are also playing in Denmark.

Hobro Ik are currently seventh in the Danish championship race, which involves 12 teams, with few games remaining in the season.

Pfumbidzai missed the Green Machine’s last outing to Bulawayo where they beat Premiership giants Highlanders 1-0 at Barbourfields.

Makepekepe coach Mark Harrison has been deploying Dominic Mukandi as makeshift left-back in the absence of Pfumbidzai.

CAPS United face winless Hwange at Gwanzura tomorrow.

Skipper Hardlife Zvirekwi will also miss the tie through suspension after accumulating three yellow cards.

The Harare giants are hoping to make a permanent switch from the giant National Sports Stadium to Gwanzura in a bid to attract more fans to their matches.

Team manager George Gumbo said Gwanzura was more central compared to the National Sports Stadium.

“We have moved the Hwange game to Gwanzura because of public demand. According to the proposals from the management, we might be moving to Gwanzura for the rest of the season, just for the convenience of our supporters.

“It’s something that is still under consideration because we need the numbers.

“We also took the concerns of our supporters into consideration since most of these guys have been parting with more money in terms of bus fares by taking two kombis to reach the National Sports Stadium,” said Gumbo.

Makepekepe were hoping to have their afternoon training session at the match venue yesterday. The Harare giants are currently fifth on the log standings with 11 points from seven starts.

The win over Highlanders, which broke a jinx of nearly two decades at Barbourfields, was probably the catalyst they needed to revamp their campaign after experiencing a dip in form in recent weeks.

Last year CAPS United beat Hwange 2-1 at the National Sports Stadium but went on to lose the reverse fixture by the same margin at the Colliery.

Hwange are still winless this season and their coach Nation Dube will be looking to relieve the pressure by upstaging their opponents.

The coal miners are currently on 13th place on the log standings with five points in the bag.
