Patrons who turned up for a Peter Moyo and Leonard Zhakata show over the weekend were treated to innumerable delays and free dramas as the show started three hours late.Musicians Peter Moyo and Leonard Zhakata short-changed fans last Thursday night at Newlife Night Club in Budiriro after only starting to perform three hours after the billed time.

According to their adverts the show should have started at 9 pm but up to 11.45 there was no activity and revellers had to make do with milling around instead of watching the musicians that they had come for.

Finally Moyo and some few band members who had come went on stage but the sound system was poor. Visibly irritated the musician jumped off stage and went back stage fuming and again fans had to listen and watch nothing.

“Zhakata’s PA system is not good for sungura. I don’t want to play until my speakers are here,” he fumed. Surprisingly his sound engineer and some key band members were yet to arrive on the venue.

Dancer Beverly Sibanda finally arrived at midnight and went straight onto the stage but failed to restore the party mood for the disgruntled patrons.

Then things got worse.

As Bev was busy trying to get the crowd excited some members of the police nabbed her for an alleged assault that happened last year and fans were left in the cold again.

The cops claimed that she had been on the run since last year.

Her manager Hapagute Mapimhidze got into the act and engaged the long arm of the law.

While the cops were thus occupied Bev took the chance to sneak off the stage and disappear into the crowd of patrons before sidling out of the venue and disappearing.

Moyo later returned to the stage after the arrival of his engineer and other band members before Zhakata took the mike, but the mood was ruined.

A source inside Moyo’s retinue told the The Herald Entertainment the debacle was caused by the friction of the power struggles between the musician’s two managers Sukol Dube and Shiga Shiga.

A band member who refused to be named said the decision to rope in Shiga as a manager had brought friction within the band.

“We cannot have two managers in one band and Shiga has not communicated well with other band members,” he said.

He said Zhakata’s manager had communicated with Shiga so that the band would start earlier.

The “Mugove” hit maker confirmed that it had been agreed that he would be the last performer at the event. “We would like to apologise to our fans for the inconvenience,” he said through his manager.

Show organiser Fidelis Ngove fumed rapping the two artistes for failing to fulfil their contractual agreements.

“The two musicians have shown high levels of unprofessionalism because when we put adverts we said the show would start around 9 pm but that time the PA system was not even there,” he fumed.
