Peter “Dhewa” Moyo is set to launch his album titled “Mabasa aMwari” at the 7 Arts Theatre in Avondale next month. In an interview with The Herald Entertainment, the Young Igwe spoke about the album which he says talks about how God has managed to see him through his transformation from the football pitch to the micro- phone.

“My new album is titled ‘Mabasa aMwari’ (The Lord’s Work). I gave the album that name because God has been faithful to me.

“The transformation I did from playing football to music is so amazing. This did not happen because I am a clever man but God has shown his favour to me. This is why the album is titled as such,” he said.

Slizer

Tracks on the album include “Samasimba”, “Mavanga”, “Rudo Pasina”, “Mhosva Dzemudzinza”, “Domestic Violence” and a bonus track which features Botswana dance sensation Slizer titled “Pasina Mari”. Peter’s second album is certainly different from the first one he did back in 2013.

“On the first one, I had poor vocal techniques but now I am better. I have also managed to do backing vocals for this project, something I did not do on the first album,” he said.

The Young Igwe promises his fans to watch out for something new since he brought in his own flair to the project.

“I don’t want to sound like my father, so though it will sound similar to his work, it has my own feel too,” he said.

The cheerful musician added that each song on the album has its meaning, for instance “Samasimba” is a song where he will be asking God for strength to survive in hard times.

“In my musical career I have come across people who pretend to like me and I face a lot of hardship. In the song ‘Samasimba’ I am asking God to give me strength to overcome such people and the courage to face obstacles,” he said.

Optimistic

Peter is optimistic about his new album as he promises his fans a quality “well cooked” album.

“I believe that the sound quality we have for this project meets international standards.

“We have worked hard with the producer, Munya Viyali, to produce something that can compete on the international stage,” he said.

The Young Igwe has indeed matured in the music industry and this album proves that he has grown and is optimistic about the future.

“If I don’t see myself as big nobody else will. Nobody will tell me that I have grown up. I know many people are doubting me but I know that with this album I am definitely going places.

“The first album was average, but on this album, expect to be blown away,” he said.
