Pep in secret talks Pep Guardiola

LONDON. — Pep Guardiola arrived in Amsterdam on Monday for a secret transfer summit with Manchester City officials.

Two hours earlier Txiki Begiristain, City’s director of football, had arrived at the same exclusive hotel, in the same luxury limousine.

Their undercover meeting will anger many people at Bayern Munich, the Spaniard’s current club. Guardiola will take over at the Etihad this summer, when his three-year deal in Bavaria ends.

Just four weeks ago, after confirming his switch from Munich to Manchester, Guardiola faced hostile questioning from an irate German press corps.

They doubted he could concentrate on the Bayern job while knowing he was moving to the English Premier League this summer, but Guardiola insisted he would not be distracted from his current role.

Guardiola also has two main transfer targets in Holland.

He has declared to City his interest in Ajax’s brilliant midfielder Riechedly Bazoer.

Bazoer (19) has been described as the new Frank Rijkaard and would cost £24 million.

Guardiola demands wide players with skill, pace and power and is believed to be looking at PSV Eindhoven’s Dutch international left-back, Jetro Willems. — The Mirror.
