Preparations for the fundraising dinner for Prince Edward jazz band are at advanced stage.

The dinner will be held this coming Thursday at Crowne Plaza in a bid to raise funds for the 12 member band who are scheduled to take coaching clinics and perform in New York, US next month.

Legendary music icon Oliver Mtukudzi is billed to perform with other different invited school students who are also to headline the act. In an interview, fundraising committee chairperson, Daniel Ruwuya said all is set for the dinner with rehearsals taking place.

“We are appealing to the public for their generous support and sponsorship in cash or kind.
“The group has been invited together with four accompanying adults in New York on musical tour.

So far the total bill is amounting to $40 000 including accommodation, transportation and allowances,” he said. Ruwuya said the corporates can buy tables from $1 500.

“This event is for the band and centered on them hence you will be surprised and convinced all the running on the day would be done by them. We urge companies and stakeholders to be with us. The team is not only representing the school but the country as a whole. On the night the band will showcase some of the songs they will also perform in US,” he said.

PE Jazz Band has performed at a number of corporate as well as charity events including. The group also won Battle of the Bands competitions hosted annually by the Italian Embassy.
