Zimbabwe’s gospel giant Pastor G is set to strengthen his presence on the gospel scene with a double launch of his 10th album and a live DVD recording slated for Reps Theatre soon. The 12-track album titled “Legacy” is set to be launched on 5 September and contains the Afro-pop and R n B genres that Pastor G has personalised as his brand of worship songs.

“This new album is geared to develop a heart for worship more than anything else. “My wish is to take people where they can connect with God especially in these times where there is a lot of hopelessness, despair and changing economic dynamics in our nation.

“One reason why people are able to go on is because of the hope the gospel message brings. “My wish is to ask God to use my music to bring hope, for people to see the presence of God even in difficult situations,” he said. “Because once you see God in your situation there is nothing that you cannot fix.

“It is a simple fact of life and the reason why I have managed to go a long way as an artiste is my relationship with God.” Pastor G said he opted for a live recording so as to capture the visual content. “On the same day, I am planning to do a live DVD recording to capture the visual so that at least I have that on record because the world is becoming more visual.

“This is evidenced by the advent of digital technology especially satellite television. “The preference of digital channels over free to air channels as well as on the DStv bouquets and other African channels in various platforms in the US gives us a challenge to create content which is visual,” he said.

Some of the tracks to look forward to include “Ndimi Nzira,” “Handizunguzike/I Won’t Be Shaken” and “Handikusiyei” produced by McDee. “Imi Ndimi Ishe Wangu” which he did in injunction with his Kenyan friend, Kanje Mbugwa, is another one to watch out for.

He said, Mbugwa did the song “Wewe Ndiwe” in Swahili and he translated it to Shona. Some of the albums from Pastor G include “Mhoroi” (2008), “Indestructible” (2012) and “Unstoppable” (2014).
