Internal strife in Zanu-PF took a new twist yesterday, with the party’s secretary for information and publicity, Cde Rugare Gumbo, claiming that some senior party members were pushing the regime change agenda from within under the guise of supporting President Mugabe.
This came in the wake of President Mugabe’s announcement that an urgent Politburo meeting has been called this week to review the Women and Youth League conferences and probe reports of vote buying and manipulation by Politburo and Central Committee members as well provincial chairpersons.

During the conferences, there were reports of some irregularities including intimidation and vote buying as some members sought to influence the outcome.
In a statement yesterday, Cde Gumbo said there were some internal machinations meant to divert President Mugabe from dealing with real issues affecting the party and the country.

“Indeed we must all be wary of elements that feign love for President Mugabe and Zanu-PF yet their real agenda is to divert President Mugabe’s attention from the core business of Government in order to create problems for the party and for President Mugabe in 2018 when elections are due. We have always known that there is a regime change agenda in place, only this time it is being pushed by our own people under the guise of loving President Mugabe.

“This is unacceptable behaviour, which smacks of deceit and a very high level of wickedness,” he said.
Zanu-PF has been rocked by divisions since the Youth League and Women’s League conferences.

Harare Youth League chairman Cde Godwin Gomwe, accused Politburo members Cde Tendai Savanhu, Secretary for Administration Cde Didymus Mutasa, Central Committee member Cde Noah Mangondo and provincial chairman Cde Amos Midzi of being behind the vote-buying scam.

Apart from that Mashonaland West Youth League chairman Cde Vengai Musengi, was also suspended for allegedly abusing the party’s name although he denies the charges saying he was being victimised for supporting the elevation of First Lady Amai Mugabe to be Secretary for Women’s Affairs.

The matters are expected to be resolved during a Politburo meeting to be held this week.
Cde Gumbo could not, however, name the officials he mentioned as plotting to oust President Mugabe.

“No I am not going to name them,” he said.
Cde Gumbo also congratulated President Mugabe for clinching various deals that are going to benefit the country’s infrastructure development during his trip to China.

“Zanu-PF wishes to congratulate the First Secretary of the party and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces President Robert Gabriel Mugabe for his successful and historic visit to China, which culminated in the signing of nine crucial deals and MoUs between Zimbabwe and China.

“Zimbabwe and China have a long history of working together collaboratively on matters of mutual interest and President Mugabe’s visit has gone a long way in cementing this relationship.

“The agreements will see a major boost in the energy, roads, national railway network, telecommunications, agriculture and tourism sectors,” he said.
“Not only do we see this as significant, we believe it is a timely arrangement that has come at a very critical moment as we forge ahead with the implementation of Zim-Asset.”

Cde Gumbo urged all party members to exert their energies on implementing Government’s economic blueprint, the Zim-Asset.
“This is all the more reason why everyone’s focus should be on the implementation of Government initiatives for the good of our people.

“Anyone who misdirects their focus to dwell on petty, narrow and immature politics is not only showing disrespect to President Mugabe who is genuinely determined to improve the welfare of the people — but is on the wrong side of history and should be ashamed of himself or herself.

“Zanu-PF won a historic five -year-mandate to address critical matters of national interest and that is what we should all focus on,” he said.

Baba Mugabe my advice is to wait and hear from both sides and make your decision because you don’t know who is the real snake nyoka. Y may tell you that Z is causing problems yet it is Y that is the real trouble-maker. Don’t just listen from one side and take action. Bring parties together and talk openly and honestly, if possible try to unite waring parties. Also, don’t be quick to fire people as this will destroy the party because what is happening now may be some people maneuvering to see the party falling apart, maybe some carders on CIA payroll. I know you can do it. Your wisdom is beyond human comprehension. Wenyu. Svikiro reMagonde.

I am also suspicious that we may have allowed ourselves to be infiltrated because some of the things happening now are without precedence.v

    • Prof Mlambo

It’s not infiltration, this is a result of ‘managed democracy’, where people have not been voting freely over the years. This is the right time for President Mugabe to demonstrate leadership, allow all the posts to be contested. His is safe anywhere up to 2018!

Bigwigs Pushing For Regime Change. Rugare Gumbo must be honest with himself and the nation by telling us the names of the people whom he alleges to be behind the regime change. The problem with those whose are idea bankrupt and incompetent like Gumbo has been to blame those who are trying to set the Titan called ZANU PF in a new direction. If anyone charters a new course and blaze a new trail in the party those who are comfortable with the status quo and who are benefiting from the present set up of things want to accuse the trend setters and trail blazers chartering a new vision and a new modus operandi in the revolutionary party.

ZANU Pf as it, needs to be destroyed from within. ZANU PF needs to be cleansed of
lazy and visionless leadership that is stopping a new horizon to set upon the people of Zimbabwe. Ideas are ideas. Period. Gumbo and his lazy cohorts must stop accusing and finger pointing those who are custodians of thought processes that will fundamentally change the party. Anyone knows that ones who have regime change agenda, among including Amai Mujuru who was busy having meeting with Washington diplomats behind the back and knowledge of the President and the security apparatus of the country. It is people like Rugare Gumbo who justifies the regime change agendas for why should Zimbabwe be chained to people like him who don’t understand what leadership entails.

Precisely, Mugabe-worship will the bane of ZANU PF.

  • Mana ngitawele, Taura!

    Rugare Gumbo ane ”history”!

  • Prof Mlambo

What is wrong with regime change anywhere. Is it not a truism that people contest election to replace incumbent or regimes. Its only in Zim where desire to higher offices is criminalised. Organisations, political parties, countries even regional blocks change leadership in their development trajectory. Change is constant and should not be resisted. The only thing President Mugabe and the entire ZPF leadership should do is to make sure that they do what they said, resign all the posts and let all the posts be contested in line with the party constitution. Zimbabweans, please let’s not criminalise genuine political contestations for power. This is exactly what causes violence, factionalism and all other ugly scenes. We are a constitutional democracy, so changing of regimes withing the constitutional framework is legal!

If an opposition doubts the fact by cde Gumbo, then that is how they mark it correct as they are try to protect their auxiliaries who have been tasked to destroy the party from inside. You don’t need your enemy to doubt the presence of a snake in your bedroom when one of your sons has alerted you. That is why I have always wanted enemies around because they only need a brave mind to use them, when they smile, they are actually telling you to be careful. And when they cry, they are praising your move, you should keep it up.

Just imagine someone asking for the names of those pushing for regime change..ki-ki-ki-kkk. It will never be that easy for you haters…who are you ask for the names? what do you want them for? What is the interest all about? Thank you for you for the negative contributions, I don’t think Z.A.N.U. Pf is made of fools, they will make use of all the indicators you have made.
