Parliament to conduct budget consultations David Chapfika

Members of the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Finance and Economic Development will from next Monday conduct public consultations on the 2016 National Budget. The committee has been split into two teams to conclude the consultations by next Friday.

One team will cover Harare, Mashonaland West, Mashonaland Central, Mashonaland East and Manicaland provinces while the second one will do Masvingo, Matabeleland South, Bulawayo, Matabeleland North and Midlands.

Addressing the Press on Tuesday, committee chairperson Cde David Chapfika (zanu-pf) said the consultations were in line with provisions of the Constitution.

“The public, interested groups and organisations are invited to the consultative meetings,” he said.

“Contributions submitted will be considered by the portfolio committee for incorporation into the committee’s report to be presented to the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development for consideration in the 2016 National Budget.”

On Monday, the first team will conduct consultations at Pat Mclean and Chikangwe Hall in Kariba and Karoi.

The same committee will be in Harare at Crowne Plaza Hotel at 9am on Tuesday before proceeding to Seke Unit L Community Hall.

On Wednesday, the team will be in Bindura and Glendale respectively.

The committee will be meeting stakeholders on Thursday in Murewa and Marondera.

The team will then end its consultations on Friday at 22 Miles Hall and Sakubva Beit hall in Zimunya and Mutare at 9am and 2pm respectively.

The second team will also start its consultations on Monday at Mucheke Hall in Masvingo before proceeding to Chivi Shed in Chivi at 2pm.

On Tuesday, the team will be in Beitbridge before proceeding to Gwanda. The team will then be in Bulawayo on Wednesday before another meeting at Tsholotsho Catholic Clinic in Tsholotsho on the same day.

The team will then go to Victoria Falls on Thursday.

On Friday, the team winds up its consultations in Kwekwe.
