Parliament resumes sitting today following a month long break, with debate on the 2015 National Budget presented by Finance and Economic Development Minister Patrick Chinamasa expected to take centre stage.

The Appropriation Bill and the Finance Bill to operationalise the Budget and allocations to the various ministries were gazetted last week ahead of the debate in Parliament.

Various ministries that have appeared before Portfolio Committees have, however, bemoaned the funds allocated to them describing them as inadequate to carry out their mandates.

Portfolio committees are expected to present their reports on the Budget following the submissions by the ministries.

According to the Appropriation Bill, the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education got the highest allocation with $890,1 million followed by Home Affairs with $410,4 million, while Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development and Health and Child Care got $316 million and $301 million respectively.

The Ministry of Defence received$379,1 million, Office of the President and Cabinet ($174 million) and the Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare ($172, 5 million).

Parliament of Zimbabwe was allocated $19, 8 million.

When it reconvenes, the legislators will go through all allocations and other matters related to the National Budget to ensure the loose ends are tied up.
