UNITED States-based local teenage swimming sensation Andresious Cyprianos got the much needed support at the NorthEast 10 Conference Championships amid confirmation that his parents, Edmore and Nokuthula travelled for the event.

The first session of NE-10 Championships got off the block on Thursday and will run until Sunday with the second and final segment running from February 19 to 21.

The NE-10 Conference is a National Collegiate Athletic Association Division II conference that was established in 1979 and consists of 15 member institutions located throughout the Northeast in the states of Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York and Vermont.

Edmore advised they would be leaving on Tuesday and will be in America for the full duration of the championships.

Andresious won a scholarship to Pace University last year and has become a member of the college’s formidable swimming team that has been doing very well.

The former Christian Brothers College pupil will take part in all team events that include 200m medley, 800m freestyle and 400m freestyle.

In individual events, he is contesting in the free style (50m and 100m) and butterfly (50m, 100m and 200m).

The championships will be hosted by Assumption College’s Plourde Recreation Centre. Pace University won Team of the Week during the second week of this month after winning the 200m freestyle and they are also expected to do well in the NE10 championships.

Edmore emphasised the importance of parents providing support to their children in their sporting endeavours saying he believes their consistent support to Andre had assisted him reach great heights in his swimming career. — Sunday News, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York and Vermont.
