Artistes that were taught at Oliver Mtukudzi’s Pakare Paye Arts Centre in Norton will honour the music superstar on December 5 at a show organised to celebrate his 40 years in the industry.

Dubbed “40 Years of Tuku Music” the concert will take place at Pakare Paye and will feature South Africa’s Ringo Madlingozi, Jah Prayzah, Suluman Chimbetu, Chiedza Chevatendi, Diva Mafunga, Munya Mataruse and Donald Kanyuchi.

Mataruse and Kanyuchi lead the list of many artistes that sharpened their skills at the arts centre that Mtukudzi built to nurture young talent.

One of the show organisers Taka Mashonganyika said the young artistes that graduated from Pakare Paye wanted to thank their master in a big way at the concert.

“The centre has produced artistes in various disciplines. Many people only know the musicians from the centre but there are other artistes that will join hands to salute Mtukudzi for his contribution to their careers and the arts industry at large,” said Mashonganyika.

“Already we have Mataruse and Kanyuchi on the line-up of performers while other artistes will be present at the event to make a special presentation to mudhara Tuku.

He has helped many people and assisted many artistes over the years.

“It is because of such contributions that we found it fit to celebrate the musician’s 40 years in the music industry.”

Mashonganyika said they are expecting a big event since all artistes have confirmed participation and promised to celebrate in style. Tickets to the show will be sold on the day of the concert at Harare Showgrounds and Avondale Shopping Centre at outlets to be announced.
