At least with the Chinese decadal leadership change, the world will have to learn to spell new names. First Xi Jinping, the new and incoming party leader and President of the People’s Republic of China (PRC).
Second Li Keqiang, the incoming deputy party leader and new Chinese Premier. Both replace Hu Jintao and Wen Jiabao respectively. And there is pressure on the top dog — pressure from within, pressure from without — to change China, but without challenging its core, foundational economic tenet: that of socialism with Chinese characteristics. Of course the broke West, foremost indebted America — China’s own HPIC — would want to see, even instigate, fatal changes that would see the break up of China as we know it today, the same way Reagan collapsed the Soviet Union through Gorbachev from 1989 onwards.

Cathrine Murombedzi HIV Walk
Zimbabwe joins the rest of the world to mark World Aids Day on December 1. It is 25 years after the first case was reported in Zimbabwe and in the US the first case was in 1981. By 1988 all blood products were screened for HIV locally. The International Aids Society saw the need to have a -

When half-time came in Angola, the tactics that Rahman Gumbo and his assistants — Peter Ndlovu and David Mandigora — turned to, in their battle to save the game, were tantamount to applying lip-stick to a frog and hoping that its face will look any better. I had always made it a point -
Isdore Guvamombe Reflections
We were confronted by kilometre after kilometre of apparently empty bush, then a scattering of mud-and-pole huts, dotted European-style main houses, a few criss-crossing gravel paths, cattle grazing on the verges of the road and precious little else. It was in late August and the land of -

If ever there is a Bible verse that is quoted out of context it is Matthew 7:1, and quite often this verse is the favourite of people who are terrified at the idea of scrutiny against sinful deeds, people who are wary of preachers who preach loudly against sin, or against the people who point out any form of error, particularly when such error carries a possibility of being attributed to themselves.
The often misquoted verse reads, “Judge not, that ye may not be judged.”
So impressive is this verse with those on the side of weakness that even deviant politicians have been defended by some of their gullible -
On Sunday morning at 7, my cousin Reuben arrives for work at the elderly people’s nursing home on the outskirts of Melbourne, Australia. He is on time. He always is because back in Zimbabwe, Reuben was a teacher and he kept time.
Teachers must lead by example. In Australia, Reuben is no longer a teacher but a nurse aid because his qualifications did not suit the education system there.
Upon arrival at work, the sister-in-charge gives Reuben a list of tasks for the day shift. All morning will be spent bathing, dressing and feeding the old ladies. Reuben has instructions to bath Mrs Margaret O’Donnell in the side ward first because she needs more attention than the others. She can no longer bath, dress, feed or change herself. Incontinence is common in the elderly. Reuben and Mrs O’Donnell have not met before. This is the first time for Reuben to do casual -
Tonderai Rutsito TechSpot
ISSUES of cyber security and IT governance have not been taken seriously by both small and large corporations in the country. ICT structures for large enterprises cannot compare to those of Small to Medium Enterprises since the implementation plan and strategic deployment vary. Tonderai -
Back then we all knew Anthony Mandiwanza as ‘that very good and educated referee’ and we used to meet at the Chinhoyi caves for a chat, and a drink, returning home to the big city after a day out in Mhangura for a league match. Today, Mandiwanza has risen through the corporate ladder, to become one of our most respected business executives in this country.
SO, on Thursday, with God’s grace, the clock that keeps time on my service at this company finally read 20 years, or two decades, or five-short-of-a-Silver Jubilee. -

Are our politicians prisoners of an uninformed, ignorant yet overbearing media? Or are they playing political games with and through a pliant media? I raise these questions in relation to the whole debate around the Inclusive Government and all those processes which Government was mandated to see through, principally the constitution-making process.
Let us play back to the early days of negotiations, which led to the creation of the Inclusive Government. The media thrust was to write against the formation of the Inclusive Government. The MDC formations, so ran editorials, should resist partnering Zanu-PF lest they are swallowed, lest democracy would be distorted through partnership. The country could burn for the sake of the concept of democracy. -

With barely a week-and-a-half to go until the November 6 US presidential elections, the entire spectrum of the American pseudo-left is exerting maximum efforts to turn out votes for Obama with the claim that the re-election of the incumbent Democrat would represent the “lesser of two -
Isdore Guvamombe Tourism Matrix
AT the inception of the inclusive Government, the tourism industry was identified and subsequently pronounced one of the four pillars of Zimbabwe’s economic turnaround programmes. But surprisingly, four years on, the tourism and hospitality industry in Zimbabwe is not in the top -
Reflections Isdore Guvamombe
Back in the village, in the land of milk, honey and dust or Guruve, when heavy rains beat a leopard’s skin, they do not wash off the spots. Truth remains truth! It has always been known that a family is like the forest, if you are outside it is dense, if you are inside you see that each tree has its own position. A tree is never a forest.
The full import of these vignettes being: does a prophet’s wife automatically become a prophetess?
And, does a prophetess’ husband become a prophet?
It is fact, not fiction that becoming a prophet is a calling but being his or her spouse is by choice. -

Bowden Mbanje and Darlington Mahuku
It is through elections that the people express their will by choosing leaders of their choice. The whole essence of democracy is for people to choose representatives who will govern them in their best interests. Hardworking parliamentarians will be rewarded by the electorate, they will be -
Rutendo is 22 and her age mates are in college or have just started formal work. Rutendo lives on a farm in Hatcliffe, 40km out of Harare. Being peri-urban, the community’s livelihood depends on one’s ability to work the fields or sell vegetables even old clothes. The farms adjacent Hatcliffe are densely and informally settled.
Rutendo has to multi-task as a mother, wife and also work the family patch that gives them produce.
She looks like someone in her forties yet she has been to the labour ward only three times.
For Rutendo giving birth is not an easy task, she cannot afford the US$25 charged by the local clinic hence she delivers at home. -
LAST week Microsoft launched its new Windows 8 operating system, which I managed to get hold of and after some 24 minutes of a clean install, I will attempt to review it.
The first thing you will notice when you fire up Windows 8 is that your beloved, familiar Start button is gone and every third party application has come with its own new way to restore what Windows is trying to trash.
Arguably, it’s such a grand departure from Redmond’s legacy Windows software that most users won’t recognise it as Windows at all.
That is both good and bad. For those pundits who were crying out for something fresh, Windows has aptly responded to their calls.
