A Chitungwiza woman escaped death narrowly after she was stabbed on the breast with a pair of scissors for asking for US$9 she was owed.
The incident took place on August 6 when Sylvia Sivindani (34) of Manyame Park, who sells hair pieces, went to inquire about money she was owed by Chipo Tarusarira (age not given).

Sivindani arrived at R and B Salon at Huruyadzo Shopping Centre in St Mary’s where she wanted to see Tarusarura.
Instead, she met her mother Florence Hotera (33) and asked if she could settle the debt on behalf of her daughter.

This did not go down well with Hotera — who told Sylvia Sivindani that it was impossible since she was not the one who borrowed from her.
Irked by the continued inquisition by Sivindani, Hotera stabbed her on the breast with a pair of scissors she was using to plait another woman’s hair.

Sivindani screamed in pain, prompting other people in the salon to rescue her.
She later reported the matter to the police leading to Hotera’s arrest.

Appearing before Chitungwiza magistrate, Hotera and pleaded guilty to assault.
Mr Jarabini sentenced her to 12 months in prison but set aside three months for the next five years.

The remaining six months were commuted to 245 hours of community service at St Mary’s Clinic.
Mr Edmond Ndambakuwa prosecuted.
