Chinese Federation of Zimbabwe, who are the organisers of the “Zim Got Talent” show, have snubbed the 2014 winner of the contest Divine Chitubura at their show to be held this weekend at Rufaro Sports Stadium because of misconduct. Chitubura was supposed to share the stage with fellow finalists including upcoming jazz sensation Evidence Manhando, a Chinese musician Ice, Zimbabwe College of Music Chinese Choir and urban grooves singer Leonard Mapfumo but he was left out because he was drunk at his previous show.

The musician was said to be visibly drunk at a New Year’s Eve show and shouted bad words at the audience that had registered their disapproval over his act.

In an interview with The Herald Entertainment, the event spokesperson Rumbidzai Matinanga said the 21 year old failed to impress and his conduct was undesirable when he performed on their last show on New Year’s Eve prompting them to give the young lad a break this time.

“Divine will not be performing on the Zimbabwe-China diplomatic celebrations to be held on Sunday at Rufaro Stadium because we feel he still have to work on his character as a role model, the way he presented himself on stage at Long Cheng Plaza on New Year’s Eve left a lot to be desired,

“So on this one we are giving him a break so that he works on his character but we still working with him. We want to groom him to be a responsible young man,” she said.

Chitubura walked away with $ 3 000 when he beat more than 20 finalists in the “Zim Got Talent” show finals held at the 7 Arts Theatre last year.

Meanwhile, Matinanga said Sunday’s show is set to unite locals and Chinese nationals resident in Zimbabwe.

“Zimbabwe-China diplomatic ties date back to the time of the liberation struggle therefore this year we want to celebrate 35 years of this relationship and at the same time uniting and strengthening the bond between the two nations,” he said.

The event will be graced by the Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Mr Lin Lin, and senior Government officials among other invited guests.

There shall also be a soccer match between Harare’s big teams.
