She captivated her audience saying very little whilst expressing everything through her eyes. And American actress Uzo Aduba revealed how she developed her character Suzanne ‘‘Crazy Eyes’’ Warren in hit show Orange Is The New Black telling Daily Mail Australia: ‘‘I focused madly on the stare’’.

Speaking at the launch party of Netflix Australia and New Zealand at Sydney’s Museum Of Contemporary Art on Tuesday, the 34-year-old offered: ‘‘My mama gave me my eyes and I used them for the show. ‘‘I wanted her (Crazy Eyes’) energy to be bigger than life, I wanted everything to be a ten and at one stage I started to think about not working with the eyes, but eyes say it all.

‘‘I didn’t practise,’’ she said, adding: ‘‘I thought I want everything she does to be slightly off so when she’s flirting and winking she blinks twice. It never quite lands. I knew her name was Crazy Eyes and people called her that so I decided to go for the stare showing something in her had switched. I love her very much.’’

Uzo, who in January picked up a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series, rubbed shoulders with fellow ‘‘inmates’’ at The Harbour City, including Australian Yael Stone.

Talking of her new-found love for Australia, Uzo said: ‘‘You can smell the vegetation, something cosmopolitan and natural at the same time. What a wonderful city.’’

Australian actress Yael was a stellar addition alongside US heavyweights Daryl Hannah and Ellie Kemper. — Dailymirror.
