Hospitality and tourism operators from throughout Zimbabwe – and from further beyond – will gather at Nyanga next week to chart the way forward for the hospitality industry in the coming 12 months. This will be at the annual Hospitality Congress, arranged and hosted by the Hospitality Association of Zimbabwe, which will focus on the impact of ICT on hospitality and tourism as its theme for this year’s meeting.

The event will take place from November 22 to 24, with all meeting sessions at the Montclair Casino Hotel, Juliasdale, and social events at other venues in the area. Speakers will include the new Minister of Hospitality, Environment and Tourism, Edgar Mbwembwe and the president HAZ, George Manyumwa, as well as other personalities from within the overall travel and tourism sector.

Major industry reports on tax, price impacts and competiveness will be presented and the congress will also incorporate the annual general meetings of HAZ and its sister body, the Catering Employers’ Association of Zimbabwe.

“This will be a most important gathering, as we shall adopt a plan for the coming year, in which we shall create a means by which the association can play a more meaningful role in representing the interests of its members and in assisting in driving hospitality forward into a brighter future,” said HAZ president George Manyumwa.

In addition to the general business, congress will also include a number of social and networking events, including the annual Hospitality Awards Dinner, at which people and organisations serving the industry well will be recognised for effort and achievement. Running alongside the congress will be the Hospitality Fair, at which suppliers of goods and services to the industry will have displays and interact with delegates.
