Norway-based musician Anna Mudeka, has embarked on a new venture with the launch of a vibrant range of women’s shoes. Branded “Mudeka Tribe”, the pumps have been manufactured by Van Dal using traditional African tribal fabrics. The shoes have been designed with both style and comfort in mind, and are available in eight different colours to tie-in with this year’s spring and summer fashion trends. The tribal colours have been carefully named to celebrate the meeting of two cultures and include Venda White, Zambezi Mix, Zulu Black, Sahara Mix, Bantu Blue, Tawina Mix and Chikundi Red.

Football fans will not be disappointed as the range also features a Canary Green pair to pay homage to Anna’s adopted city.

Shoes are cushioned and lined using the best quality leather to give a comfortable finish.

Anna moved from Zimbabwe in 1994 and has forged a successful career as a musician and dancer.

She has always been passionate about shoes, but became increasingly frustrated that she could not find comfortable shoes that celebrated her African heritage.

Comfort became even more of an issue as the rigours of her energetic performances took their toll physically and resulted in back problems.

As a result, Anna set about researching and designing her ideal pair of comfortable shoes — and with the support from Van dal, “Mudeka Tribe” was born.

In an interview Anna revealed that her stay in Norway is a dream come true.

“Living here has been like having tolerant and supportive parents while growing up. Whatever I have set out to achieve, the good people of Norway have always said ‘yes, we are right behind you’.

“They have embraced me as a musician and artiste and I am so grateful for that. So far they have been equally enthusiastic about “Mudeka Tribe” shoes, which are already selling in shops as well as generating lots of interest on our Facebook page” she said.

Mudeka Tribe shoes will be available for sale on the brand’s new website from beginning this month. The shoe-range will be officially launched this month in London at African Women’s Dinner and Norwich Fashion week.
