Ngoni Kambarami, who has been club-hopping since he made a huge splash on the mainstream music scene, has landed a permanent slot at ZimCafe Restaurant along Kwame Nkurumah Avenue every Sunday where he performs with a live band.
The dapper singer has so far staged three shows consecutively, drawing mature listeners who patronise the upmarket hangout.
“I am quiet by the way, we are doing things here. Basically, it is a laidback kind of atmosphere where we perform to a mature crowd as they enjoy their drinks. Since it will be a Sunday, there is no fuss. We just prune cool vibes to help fans relax without being under pressure.

“However, we don’t limit ourselves, sometimes we turn up the vibe and people get on to the dance floor,” Ngoni said.
Isaac Neshamba, the ZimCafe Restaurant director, more popularly known as F&B Guru in entertainment circles, confirmed that Ngoni and his group were now resident at the joint.

“As much as we are known for hosting old skool music parties every weekend for the mature and discerning listeners, we have realised that Ngoni’s flair augurs well with our patrons. He plays soothing music which suits our Chisa Nyama super Sundays.

“There is a lot that is happening at the joint during weekends. Besides the old skool music we have the popular Chisa Nyamas where we serve big portions of rump steaks, countrystyle sausages, chicken, mutton and T-bone for braai.

“We have top chefs who braai for patrons as they relax and wind down the weekend. You know Harare is a lazy town on Sundays so that’s what we are offering,” F&B Guru said.

Ngoni, who launched his career as an urban groover at the turn of the millennium, has transformed himself into a fully fledged music star.
His music, which straddles soul and R&B, appeals to a cross-section of audiences. He works magic on stage with his laidback grooves which he delivers in Shona.

Among his popular hits are the early chart toppers such as “Angela”, “Ndiwe Chete”  and “Wakaenda” to the more recent hits such as “Zvaunondiita So” and “Wobvira”.
