A new talent search show for gospel musicians will be launched in Harare next month.

The show is being organised by local company Scarlet Business communications, Public Relations, Image and Reputation Management Company in conjuction with renowned local music producer Macdonald “Macdee” Chidavaenzi.

Titled “The Vessel”, the show is set to identify talent in upcoming gospel music artistes who have gospel music at heart.

In an interview, co-director of the show Rumbidzai Matinanga said the show is going to be unique since they would value Christian principles.

“The Vessel Zimbabwe is a talent show that headhunts from the grass roots, young people who show untapped talent that has potential to compete at an international level.

The show’s objectives are to harness, capacitate and individually convert boys, girls, men and women of all ages into thinking beyond the scope of using their vocals just to live for a day, for entertainment or to lead into the presence of God their local church and communities but into becoming recognised as national and international stars that generate income for themselves and the economy.

“The Vessel goes beyond entertainment, but worshipping, leading people into the presence of God in a nutshell being a usable vessel in the kingdom of God,” she said.

She highlighted that artists who are going to make it will go through grooming.

“Between the auditions and the semi-finals, the artistes that would have made it will go through grooming and do charity events that go beyond just donating money but showing acts of love to marginalised communities and individuals,” she said.

The auditions will be on March 12 and 19 at a venue to be advised.

“This year’s show will be held in Harare only as a pilot and will run for a period of two months only. However, upcoming artistes from all over Zimbabwe are welcome to participate.

“The winner of the show will walk away $3 000 richer and record his /her single at Eternity Productions Studios and do a video at Tasca Studios. There will be complimentary prizes for the top five, which may include cash and hampers and they will be unveiled after the auditions.”
