Atelevision production exploring African traditional social practices as well as pride, power and authority of African traditional leaders will be unveiled on the local film sector soon. The production titled “Mutapa” was created, written and directed by Eddie Ndlovu, who is also the man behind the soap “Wenera”. Ndlovu said the film is set to start showing on ZTV this December.

“Mutapa is story is centred on African pride, power and authority to rule. It is a reflection of a society where everyone is fighting to be a leader. “This production will have a new approach to our local film industry,” said Ndlovu. There are about 12 powerful characters led by Eddie Sandifolo. I always work with him because he is the best in the game and we also have Taku Murapa. Most of the characters are new faces.

“I was inspired by the need to make today’s television better. After all, I believe it is my call to create employment in the film industry. “I believe the locals will have no problem relating to ‘Mutapa’ because most elements and themes mirror our traditional social structures. The production will be in English and Shona.”

The film will be produced by Talent of Steel company. “Mutapa” is expected to make a lot of impact in Africa as it is not only made for Zimbabweans but Africa as a whole. Ndlovu has the vision of bringing back the long forgotten television watching culture that Zimbabweans used to have. His production house Talent of Steel say they aim to provide about 50 percent prime time content on local television by the end of 2016.
