THE National Economic Consultative Forum (NECF) has reduced its task-forces from 14 to five as it seeks to bring order in the implementation of clusters under the Zimbabwe Agenda for Sustainable Socio-Economic Transformation clusters.
The NECF was created to ensure the attainment of socio-economic goals based on the concept of smart partnership between the public and private sectors.

In an interview with Herald Business, NECF executive secretary Mr Norman Chakanetsa said the new structures were now operational and their action plans would be presented to the steering committee.

“We used to have 14 task forces and now we have reconfigured them to remain with five, four of which mirror the clusters in Zim-Asset to create order and avoid confusion” he said.

The fifth task-force plays a co-ordinating role as well as dealing with funding across the board.
Zim-Asset identifies four, but all-encompassing clusters namely food security and nutrition, social services and poverty reduction, infrastructure and utilities and value addition and beneficiation.

A joint review committee has been set up and will give a report on progress to the Deputy Chief Secretary in the Office of the President and Cabinet Justin Mpamhanga.

Mr Chakanetsa said the NECF was on recruitment drive to be adequately staffed to fulfil its mandate.
