YOUNG Warriors coach Bekithemba Ndlovu says they will be out to give it their best shot when the COSAFA Under-20 Championships get underway in Zambia next month after they have been placed in Group C in a draw held yesterday in Johannesburg, South Africa. The championships will be staged in Kitwe, Zambia, from December 6 to 16.

Zimbabwe are up against Angola, Lesotho and Namibia in Group C. Defending champions Zambia face Swaziland, East African guest nation Uganda and Malawi in Group A while South Africa, North African guest nation Egypt, Mozambique and Mauritius are in Group B. Ndlovu, who has been holding trials in Bulawayo while his assistants Mark Mathe and Mike Madzivanyika were taking charge of business in Harare, said they are more concerned on ensuring they come up with a strong team that can face any opponent at the tournament.

“There is no easy group, there is no group of death but all of them are tough because all of the teams from what I know, from what I have seen, can play football. So, even our group, we are going there to compete and we are going there knowing that every team, which we are going to play against, is a strong team,” Ndlovu said.

Zimbabwe are going into this tournament seeking better fortunes after failing to go beyond the group stages last year in South Africa when they lost 1-5 to Zambia and settled for a goalless draw against Malawi.

“Obviously, we would want to win the Cup but there will be one winner at the end of the tournament. So, like I said, we are going there to compete, we are going in there to try and win games also.
