Having hogged the limelight for the wrong reasons in the past few months, Nadine Brown has finally come out in the open about her musical career.

Affectionately known as Mai B, Nadine has revealed how she started her musical career as a young child to become one of the most recognised female artistes in Zimbabwe.

“I started making my own music when I was still quite young. I got to meet my late husband Andy and worked with him as a backing vocalist on various projects dating way back in 2004.

“In 2009 we made our first collaboration on the track ‘Makandinzwa Nani’, which was a remix of the original track made by Andy in the late 1980s.

“The track featured on my late husband’s album ‘Gago’.

“In 2011 he released the album, ‘Chiwoko’ which had the tracks ‘Ndinotsva’ and ‘Corruption’ for which we did a video that caused a stir on ZBC-TV.

“Unfortunately, my husband passed away the following year in March 2012 so the album ‘Chiwoko’ was my last project with Andy”, she said.

Not only has Nadine worked with the late great Andy Brown, she has also worked with quite a number of big names in the industry.

“I have made other music projects with dozens of musicians who include Cde Chinx, Mic Inity, Busi Ncube, Potatoe, Africa Revenge’s Willis, Willom Tight, Jah Prayzah and Bounty Lisa, just to mention a few.”

Nadine has also shared the stage with Jamaican artistes among them Tony Rebel, Popcaan and Tur- bulence.

“I have also performed alongside Oliver Mtukudzi and Jonah Moyo in Blantyre, Malawi .

“In 2014, I released a 10-track album ‘Ndiri Shirikadzi’, which contains songs such as ‘Amai’, ‘If Only You Knew’, ‘Ndiri Muchiki’, ‘Ndichasvika Chete’, and ‘Rubber Ting’.

“The album ‘Ndiri Shirikadzi’ touches on the challenges faced by widows like myself and HIV and AIDS awareness.”

“Songs such as ‘Jah Guide’ and ‘Ndazviita’ have done well on Power FM’s Hitsville.

“I have also done a couple of projects with Chillspot Records including ‘Pure Niceness Riddim’ and ‘Bull Riddim’ on the tracks ‘Ndinotenda’ and ‘Tinofamba naMost High’ respectively,” said the affable musician.

Nadine has also shed some light on her upcoming projects including her latest offering, a yet to be named album, which she says touches on various national issues on freedom and achievements of the coun- try.

“I am now recording with Gaza Empire Africa Records, which is run by David Akandawasvika who doubles as my manager.

“The album contains tracks that congratulate President Mugabe on his achievements and the successes of Zimbabwe as a country.”

She also promised videos for her works.
