When they had crossed, Elijah said to Elisha, “Tell me, what can I do for you before I am taken from you?”

“Let me inherit a double portion of your spirit,” Elisha replied.

“You have asked a difficult thing,” Elijah said, “yet if you see me when I am taken from you, it will be yours — otherwise, it will not.”

As they were walking along and talking together, suddenly a chariot of fire and horses of fire appeared and separated the two of them, and Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind.

Elisha saw this and cried out, “My father! My father! The chariots and horsemen of Israel!” And Elisha saw him no more. Then he took hold of his garment and tore it in two. Elisha then picked up Elijah’s cloak that had fallen from him and went back and stood on the bank of the Jordan. (2 Kings 2:9-13)

Today I will be talking to you about becoming God’s choice. From the scripture above we see Elisha receiving a double portion from Elijah. God had spoken to Elijah to anoint 3 men and 1 of whom was Elisha who was to take his place. But it was not automatic or an easy road!

In my few years of preaching the word I discovered that determination makes you win in life. Without it you won’t go very far. I was not born a Pentecostal but grew up in Anglican. When I saw the priest do his duties I liked it so much. I want to say to you there is no greater thing than to serve God. After obtaining your degrees and all else you pursue in life deep down in your heart desire to serve God.

Serving God is not suffering. Many people think serving God is suffering. No! Even in businesses people suffer and go through tough times.

Even people with big positions in companies suffer and go through rough patches! I don’t know why people particularly think that when you serve God you suffer. One of the best assignments under the sun is serving God! How pleasant it is when God calls you at whatever stage or age to serve the Him!

Determination alone is not enough there has got to be desire in your heart. Desire in your heart that God, someday, sometime, somewhere He will use me. Listen God is not a dictator so he will not come and force you. Desire it. Paul says Desire spiritual gifts!

Think about it God looking down on earth with over 7 billion people and 14 billion hands, God sees your 2 hands, he looks again and again and chooses to use them. O hallelujah! Out of the billions in the world he sees just you. O I like it, I like it!

As this year is winding up desire to become God’s choice. It’s important to become God’s choice. Just think about it. If God chooses you, yes I know you have your desires in your heart but put God first! Let your heart’s cry be, “God the desire of my heart is that I may become your choice!” This generation I want you to say in your heart, the desire of my heart is to become God’s choice! I don’t mind what you are doing now. Add one more thing God I desire to be your choice. God don’t just see everybody else, see me!

Whoever you are reading this article there is something bigger for you in God’s plan and mind. What do you think Elisha was thinking when he was in the field working before Elijah came to him?

He was telling himself I know and I feel there is something bigger for me. Yes I’m in my father’s field now but, my day is coming, my hour is coming. One day something will happen!

Desire and determination are powerful! Do you know Elijah had never seen Elisha?

Actually Elijah was frustrated and wanted to die. In fact he told God kill me! But God said it’s not the time for you to die. Whoever you are and no-matter what you are going through in life, it’s not time to die! It’s not time to give up!

There is a purpose for you. There is an anointing for you.

Elisha was just ploughing meaning he was just working also meaning he was just minding his business! Elijah just hit him with a jacket. Not a strong hit just a hit like this paaa! Therefore even if you are are just minding your business may you encounter God’s presence and purpose for your life! It’s my desire that everybody reading this article may be God’s choice!

I know that God is looking for somebody right now. Even if you are reading online from Namibia you can still be God’s choice. Yes you can study and become a great accountant but remember this day and always say deep down your heart, My God that I may be your choice! In whatever field you are in, become God’s choice!
