NEW FC Platinum forward Brian Muzondiwa is positive his side will stand the test to be provided by Sofapaka tomorrow and qualify for the first round of the CAF Confederation Cup tournament.

Muzondiwa was on target in the first leg in Kenya two weeks ago when FC Platinum gave themselves an advantage with a 2-1 away win.

“Everybody in the team is focused and has a winning mentality. Our coach (Norman Mapeza) has already warned us to guard against complacency,” said the newboy ahead of the clash at Mandava.

“I am delighted to be part of FC Platinum and I am gelling well.

“We played against Sofapaka and I respect them but I do not fear the defenders in the team.

“All I am looking forward to is for me and those who will be chosen to play to do their best for the nation at large, the institution and the soccer loving fans of Zvishavane community.”

The striker was the star in Kenya a fortnight ago when he scored in the 25th minute after he latched to a long ball from Thabani Kamusoko and beat the challenge of defender Wiluis Ouma before placing the ball past goalkeeper David Okello.

“Mapeza is a very good coach and I think we are going to go places,” said Muzondiwa.

“I am bound to see the best of my career.

“Platinum seems to be the club every player wishes to play for and I am enjoying the experience and the exposure I am getting.”

Sofapaka were expected in Zimbabwe yesterday but they were forced to postpone their travel following Air Zimbabwe’s failure to secure enough seats for them for the connection flight from Harare to Bulawayo.

The team is now expected this afternoon.

Kenya Football Federation Secretary-General, Michael Esakwa, wrote to ZIFA advising the association of the unfortunate development.

“We bring to your kind attention that Sofapaka FC participating in the CAF CC and scheduled to play FC Platinum has rescheduled its flight to tomorrow Friday 27th February 2015 due to lack of flight connection from Harare to Bulawayo,” Esakwa said.

ZIFA communications manager, Xolisani Gwesela, a refreshing voice at the association, confirmed the developments.

“We have been informed of Sofapaka’s change of itinerary arrangements therefore we are now expecting them to touch down on Friday afternoon.

“Travel arrangements once they land remain the same, a flight to Bulawayo then a road trip to the match venue,” Gwesela said.
