President Mugabe has fired Macro-Economic Planning and Investment Promotion Deputy Minister Monica Mutsvangwa from Government.

This followed her three-year suspension from Zanu-PF by the revolutionary party’s Politburo last week for gross misconduct and indiscipline.

Acting Secretary for Information, Media and Broadcasting Services Mr Regis Chikowore confirmed the development yesterday.

“As far as I understand, Deputy Minister Monica Mutsvangwa was indeed served with a letter relieving her of her duties in Government at the weekend,” he said.

Cde Mutsvangwa was relieved of her duties at the same time her husband, Christopher Mutsvangwa.

Cde Mutsvangwa was Minister for the Welfare Services for War Veterans, War Collaborators, Former Political Detainees and Re- strictees.

Cde Chris Mutsvangwa, who is the Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association chairman, was also given a three-year suspension by the Zanu-PF Politburo last Thursday.

He was suspended for gross misconduct and disloyalty.

The couple will not hold any positions in the party during their suspension, but will continue holding their parliamentary seats.

Cde Mutsvangwa is the Norton National Assembly representative while his wife is Senator for Manicaland.

When The Herald sought Cde Mutsvangwa’s comment over her dismissal, she said: “Ask the Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet Dr (Misheck) Sibanda.”

The Zanu-PF Women’s League passed a vote of no confidence on Cde Mutsvangwa as the league’s spokesperson last year for indiscipline.

This was after she participated in an illegal meeting that tried to overturn the ousting of Manicaland chairlady Cde Happiness Nyakuedzwa.

Cde Nyakuedzwa was kicked out for disrespecting the First Lady, Amai Grace Mugabe.

Amai Mugabe is also the Zanu-PF Secretary for Women Affairs.

On the other hand, Cde Chris Mutsvangwa was suspended after the Mashonaland West provincial executive last year recommended his expulsion, accusing him of insulting the First Family and undermining the authority of the President,

This followed his utterances in the media where he was quoted as saying: “We will always respect the institution of marriage and he (Cde Saviour Kasukuwere) is confused and conflating the institution of marriage and that of the State.”

His woes mounted when he tried to convene a meeting of war veterans without notifying the relevant authorities, including getting police clearance.

The freedom fighters, who gathered for the unsanctioned meeting, were dispersed by police using teargas and water cannons.

The development irked the patron of the war veterans, President Mugabe, who had no kind words for Cde Mutsvangwa.

Also suspended for three years was the Women’s League secretary for administration Cde Esphina Nhari, who had a vote of no confidence passed on her by the wing for chanting the slogan “Pasi NeG40” at a rally in Gutu last year.

Seven former youth provincial chairpersons were also expelled after some of them issued a Press statement insulting and denigrating the First Lady.

These are Godfrey Tsenengamu (Mashonaland Central), Godwin Gomwe (Harare), Vengai Musengi (Mashonaland West), Washington Nkomo (Matabeleland South), Khumbulani Mpofu (Bulawayo), Edmore Samambwa (Midlands) and Tamuka Nyoni (Matabeleland North).

Another seven youths leaders from associations aligned to Zanu-PF were also expelled from the party.

Surely something is horribly wrong with the so called first family. Of all these expulsions it certainly looks like the charge is always insulting or denigrating the first family. Why would all these people who are seasoned politicians all insult this couple? Can this be a sustained charge really if it was in a court of law where impartiality is applied firmly? Knowing that one of the members of the first family is a member of the displinary committee do they recuse themselves? Isn’t this a kangaroo court really? Whatever the answers to my questions something doesn’t sound right with all these purges and history will prove me correct.

Revolutionary Party? More like confused party. My father is turning in his grave surely this is not the Zanu PF he knew. He would hardly be able to recognise it!

Kune Ministry yeMacro-Economic planning??? Who is the Minister? What exactly do the bastards do??? Haya

You are justifiably excused for not knowing these ministers and their so-called deputies. Picture this scenario. In 1980 at Independence we had only 100 MP’s but now this government has close to a 100 cabinet ministers and their deputies alone. Quite a monstrous omnibus executive for such a small, financially bankrupt country.

Fired for chanting pasi neG40 a faction that does not exist. If people are now being fired for saying utterances of non existent organisations, it indeed points to insanity. Who is safe now. Chipanga we are coming for you!!!Muchasara musina munhu muParty. Handei Tione

Nyika inofanira kuva ne respect. Lets learn to respect the First Family. People should learn to listen to advices. Inga kana mwana akaudzwa kuti chinhu ichi chinopisa haumbofa wamuona achiisa chigumwe nekutya. How many times has he been given big posts okanya ega? He has been at ZBC, Ambassador of Zimbabwe in China and now Cabinet Minister adzingwa futi. Party inemitemo yayo. We have never heard of Sekeramayi being loud, Mpofu – no, Parirenyatwa – no, kana Mnangagwa anezita rinogara shandiswa zii zvake. Right from the start I knew he was given wrong Ministry. Those ministries should be given to people like Sekeramayi, etc vanehana dzakatsiga. Just imagine if it was given to people like Chinotimba, same fanana na Mutsvangwa. They are the only ones who went to war nana Matematanda.

Respect is reciprocal, meaning every party member has been and is content working with the president ever since. He exhibits characteristics that qualifies him for respect and trust as a leader. Things went off rail when the F/L entered the field. She exhibits characteristics that makes her not suit the progressive party she joined a year ago but instead she is fashioning it to suit her and her interests by removing gallant warriors that sustained it if they show resentment to her breach of party constitution. She insults, she sing and dance to tribalistic songs and threatens those not in sync with her political tune. Her actions warrants her’ counter insults’ from some even if her insult targets remain mum. The real crime people are being alleged to have committed should be ‘counter insult’ and ‘disdain to her type of politics’ and not anything different. This in itself is nowhere near breach of party protocol because there are no such statutes that aim to protect insults and wrong deeds by the F/L who is now a politician in her own right. Since she joined politics then she should fairly taste the answers of her words and actions in the almost similar manner.
