It never rains but pours for musician, businessman and prominent Zanu-PF member Energy Mutodi as he had his effects recently attached by the High Court to settle an outstanding debt.

The musician – who has been in the news on numerous occasions on charges of defrauding his clients – this time around is set to lose goods that will be going under the hammer at Revelations Auctions based in Glendale this Friday.

According to a newspaper notice placed in yesterday’s edition of The Herald, Mutodi’s property will be sold as ordered by the Sherriff of the High Court of Zimbabwe’s sale in execution.

“Duly instructed by the Sherriff of the High Court of Zimbabwe, the following movable property will be sold by public auction at our premises on the 3rd July, 2015, at 10 am … “HC703/13, Brance (Private) Limited vs Energy Mutodi – Kipor generator, 2 x garden chairs, 2 x bar chairs, coffee table and one chair, three-piece sofas, round table, Capri refrigerator,” reads the notice. In an interview with The Herald Entertainment, Revelations Auctioneers Tendai Jacobs confirmed the developments but referred this reporter to the Sheriff.

“Yes, we got the case but as you know it is under the Sheriff so I suggest you get a comment from him,” he said.

Efforts to get a comment from Mutodi were fruitless as his mobile phone went unanswered.

Early this year, the musician – who is also a property developer – was acquitted by Harare regional magistrate Hosea Mujaya in a case in which he allegedly swindled 16 000 civil servants of over US$500 000 in a housing scheme run by his company, National Housing and Development Trust.
