FORMER Zimbabwe youth international Trevor Mutero has left his Greek soccer side Glyfada FC after they were recently relegated from that country’s League Two at the end of the 2013-2014 season.Mutero, who is back at his base in England, confirmed yesterday that his one-season flirtation with Greek football has ended following Glyfada FC’s demotion from the Greek League Two and has now set his sights on plying his trade in South Africa.

“The 2013-2014 soccer season in Greece has now finished and we didn’t do wel . . . We got relegated and this means I’m leaving the club. I’m looking at playing in South Africa because I’ve always wanted to play there,” Mutero (20) said.

Asked if there was any English club who were interested in signing him on, the former Reading junior player said he was not keen on plying his trade in the UK and his preferred destination was now South Africa.

“I want a different environment and I want to play (football) in South Africa just like I did before and I’ve been talking to (former Zimbabwe international striker) Wilfred Mugeyi,” Mutero said.

Mugeyi is now an assistant coach at South African Premiership side AmaZulu and he could not be reached for comment yesterday.
