IT’S now just a matter of time before Darryl Nyandoro completes his move to troubled Premiership giants Dynamos after the Glamour Boys technical team this week recommended the signing of the gangly forward in a bid to bolster their misfiring strike-force.

Nyandoro and former Monomotapa teammate Chris Samakweri, who trained briefly with DeMbare earlier this month, returned this week and appear to have impressed interim coach Lloyd Mutasa.

DeMbare officials yesterday were busy trying to get their papers in place ahead of the club’s trip to Tsholotsho tomorrow.

The club’s secretary general Webster Chikengezha said they have so far received a recommendation for Nyandoro while Samakweri remains on trial.

Dynamos are hunting for strikers to beef up their attack following a poor start this year.

They have fired blanks in five of their six matches and are keen to save their campaign before the crisis gets out of hand.

“The coaches have indicated that they want Darryl for the moment and they are still assessing Samakweri,” said Chikengezha.

“What they are looking for is a striker and Darryl is a striker. The coaches have recommended him. The thing is we don’t want to duplicate roles.”

Dynamos have two free slots which they can utilise to reinforce their squad.

Recently they rehired their former marksman Evans Gwekwerere to complement Rodreck Mutuma, Farai Mupasiri, Kelvin Bulaji and Richard Kawondera who are having nightmares in front of goal.

Gwekwerere, who reunited with Dynamos ahead of the Harare Derby, is yet to make any meaningful impact and there are many analysts who have already written him off as a spent-force, accusing the club’s leadership of desperation in signing him.

The striker first announced his arrival on the big stage 10 years ago, in the Dynamos colours, but after showing a lot of promise, in his first few months and scoring important goals, he has failed to live to expectations.

His move to South Africa, after just six months at Dynamos, saw Gwekwerere lose his way with some blaming his lack of discipline, for his free-fall which saw him struggle to make an impact during a nomadic spell that took him to Botswana and Mozambique.

Former Dynamos coach, Paulo Jorge Silva, who was fired recently after a poor start at the Glamour Boys, said Gwekwerere was unfit when he arrived for his third spell at the country’s biggest and most successful team.

DeMbare have been a poor clone of the giant that, until last year, had overshadowed all domestic opposition as the Glamour Boys won four straight league titles under the tutelage of Callisto Pasuwa who is now coaching the Warriors.

Silva’s decision to dump Takesure Chinyama, who traced his footsteps back to Poland, was also questioned by some fans, and analysts, who felt that the veteran forward still had more to provide in the club’s attack than some of the players who gained the trust of the Portuguese mentor.

Bulaji, who has also played in Europe, has endured a miserable time at the Glamour Boys since his decision to cross the Great Divide and leave CAPS United for Dynamos and he can argue that he has been playing more as a winger than an out-and-out forward at the Glamour Boys.

Kawondera, the man who Silva believed would be the spearhead of the attack, appears too have been devoured by the challenges that come with playing for a club like Dynamos where the pressure is intense and, since his move from Triangle, he has barely impressed.

The 29-year-old Nyandoro, who has one cap for the Warriors and a host of caps for the Young Warriors, has played for Monomotapa and had a spell at DRC giants TP Mazembe that never exploded into the success story that many had anticipated.

Fiive years ago, his representatives met CAPS United officials in Harare and agreed terms for a two-year deal that would make the Zimbabwe international forward one of the best-paid players in the domestic Premiership.

However, that deal collapsed as CAPS United battled in-house challenges.

South African side SuperSport United were also interested in Nyandoro’s signature then while reports back then also indicated he was on the radar of both FC Platinum and domestic champions Dynamos.

Dynamos have also turned their rookie Kudzanayi Nyakasaka into a forward and the former Young Warriors has scored one of the two goals the team has in the opening six games.

The Harare giants should not expect an easy outing against Tsholotsho at Barbourfields tomorrow.

The two teams could not be separated last year when Tsholotsho made their Premiership debut.

The side’s coach Lizwe Sweswe yesterday said they were ready for the challenge.

“Everything is okay and we are preparing for this game as we normally do for other teams. Nothing has changed, only that we are playing a big team. It’s self-motivating, though, and we hope to play our normal game,” said Sweswe.
