MUTARE City will in the next two weeks start opening up roads at Beira Corridor Phase 2 near Forbes Border Post as an initial step in servicing 320 low-density residential stands.

The authority’s public relations officer Mr Spren Mutiwi said the move was part of efforts to feed into Government’s 100-day Plan of Action that is putting emphasis on service delivery.

“We are prioritising this housing scheme as part of our quick-win projects, as a local authority that will feed into Government’s 100-Day Plan of Action. Mutare City has dovetailed its programmes with the new dispensation whose focus is mainly on delivering,” he said. Mutare City is being partnered by a company named Birkey South.

Mr Mutiwi could not disclose the level of investment they would be making into the project, whose second phase he indicated would be punctuated by trenching to accommodate water pipes once road opening was concluded.Mr Mutiwi urged beneficiaries of the project to be responsible and own up to their obligations. — Manicaland Bureau.
