Pleasure spots and night clubs in and around Harare were hives of activity on New Year’s Eve and revellers were spoilt for choice.
From the upmarket joints to downtown hangouts, people thronged in their numbers for the crossover gigs despite the rains that pounded the capital on the night. Although some revellers preferred to stay at one joint before New Year, it is common that after midnight people flirt from one club to the next.

At some hangouts at Borrowdale’s Sam Levy’s Village such as Mekka and Club H2O, there were tents pitched outside as the clubs anticipated huge turnouts. Dj Rax was throwing some hot tunes.

“This is one of my favourite places in Harare and I like the ambience,” Max Oneal of Borrowdale said.
At Mekka club, goers had a great time with music and drinks flowing like water while those that preferred something different were at Avondale’s newly opened Pariah State.

It was music and dance until early hours of the morning at Pariah State with Djs Mos Deezy, TK Beats and 4tunesoul on rotation. Already the club has become a favourite of many just a month after it opened its doors.

“This is one of my best parties. The music is good and the prices are reasonable,” Dj 4tunesoul said.
Elsewhere at the Harare International Conference Centre, superstar Oliver Mtukudzi, Jah Prayzah and Douglas serenaded music lovers on New Year’s Eve.

“I am a big fan of Tuku and Jah Prayzah is one of the talented musicians,” said one fan.
The gig started on a low note with only few fans but later it turned out to be a big event after hundreds of people attended the show after midnight.

It was Mtukudzi’s last gig before he leaves for the tour of the United States. The granddad of music was at his best and he  delivered one of his best performances last year.

Jah Prayzah who had a wonderful year with the release of “Tsviriyo” wowed fans with a brilliant act matching his status.
At Lion King, the crowd was mostly youths including the school going age who thronged the venue for a night out.

Londers’ Nightclub was a hive of activity with scores of people enjoying braai and drinks. Londers’ which is located at Strathaven Shopping Centre is a hit among club goers. On New Year’s Eve it was packed with people from all walks of life enjoying a night out.

Perhaps the highlight was at Meikles Hotel where hundreds of people turned up for the traditional fireworks display.
