MUSHOWANI Stars owner Lovemore Nyakasoka says he will soldier on with the club as they are still to get a buyer for their Northern Region Division One Soccer League franchise. Nyakasoka put the franchise up for sale in June when he revealed that he was broke and could no longer sponsor the side. Earlier this month, Nyakasoka said they had some individuals that were interested in the club but yesterday the Mashonaland Central-based side’s owner said nothing has materialised so far and he will continue financing the club.

“We are still looking for buyers, I think people do not have money so we are still looking. The guys based in London, we are still negotiating with them and they have not finalised to our agreement. Maybe in two weeks time we will be done.

“The thing is, I am not going to dump the club. I am with them till that time when we get someone to buy the club. I want my players to go into the right hands and at the moment we are managing despite not having enough funds,” said Nyakasoka.

Mushowani were among strong contenders for the championship last year but it appears they have lost the magical touch that saw them finishing among the top teams in 2014.

They are currently 11th on the log standings.

They have already dismissed two coaches — Solomon Mudavanhu and Jostein Mathuthu — since the season started.

Their senior player Lawrence Makoni has been in charge of the team since Mathuthu got fired in June.

However, Nyakasoka said they were in the process of finding a replacement for Mathuthu and have appointed Dynamos legend Angirai Chapo as a caretaker coach while they assess his performance.

“We have appointed a caretaker coach, Angirai Chapo, he is the one we are trying, but we have not yet engaged him (as a substantive coach). He started about a week ago and he is with the team right now but we are still assessing him.

“He is being assisted by player-coach, Lawrence Makoni.

“We hope the second half of the season will be better than the first,” said Nyakasoka.

Meanwhile, Starbill coach, Wilson Mutekede, admitted that they have a tough task ahead of them when they try to navigate their way from the relegation zone in the second half of the season.

Starbill are at the bottom of the log table with 10 points. They have won one match, drew seven and lost nine games.
